Larry Allen Schultz, 68, of Lisbon, North Dakota passed away peacefully surrounded by his family at Sanford Hospital in Fargo, North Dakota.
Larry was born to Allen Leo “George” and Doris Jean (Lemna) Schultz on August 12, 1953 in Lisbon, ND. He graduated from Lisbon High School and went on to attend Diesel Mechanics School in Billings, MT.
Larry married the love of his life, Sandra Mae Sweet on September 28, 1974. Larry and Sandra made their home farming and ranching north of Lisbon for the next 47 years, where they raised their son, Dustin Allen.
Larry knew the importance of drinking water and helped the residents of southeast North Dakota receive rural water by assisting with the creation of Ransom-Sargent Rural Water now known as Southeast Water Users District where he continued to be active on the Board until his death. His dedication to the rural water district was evident when he received the most prestigious rural water award, the Clark Cronquist Waterline Award at the annual Rural Water conference in February 2022.
If Larry wasn’t busy on the phone chatting with someone about water, he could be found on the water fishing with his son and grandsons. He was incredibly proud of his family and he mentioned them to anyone that would listen including all the incredible nurses, doctors, and countless family, friends and neighbors that have helped Larry for the past several years.
Larry is survived by his loving wife, Sandra; and his son, Dustin (Rachel) Schultz; his three grandchildren, Kynlee, Hunter and Hudson; two brothers, Kevin (Janet) Schultz and Randy (Tanya Haarsager) Schultz; two sisters, Lori (John) Binsfeld and Kristi (Bob) Salisbury; several aunts, uncles, nieces and nephews. Larry was preceded in death by his parents and granddaughter, Oakley Schultz.
Visitation will be held on Friday, August 12, 2022 from 1:00 to 2:00 p.m. followed by Mass of Christian Burial at 2:00 p.m. at St. Aloysius Catholic Church in Lisbon. Burial will be at St. Aloysius Catholic Cemetery near Lisbon. Larry’s service will be live streamed on his obituary page.
